ITS FRIDAY!!! We are jumping for joy too. I don’t know about you but this week just drraaaggggeeeddd on and I can’t wait to be lay by the pool and synthesize some vitamin D this weekend. If you couldn’t tell by that nerdy comment, this is Pearl here with your latest installment of Friday Shout Outs, our time to share with you the blogs, podcasts, instagram accounts, quotes, books, products, and… basically whatever we feel like we love at that time.
Beets and Bones– Valeria is a mama trying to slow down cooking and bring us back to traditional food preparation methods. She has tons of fermented veggie recipes and can teach you how to make fun things like kombucha and sour cream. Plus, she has a post about Why Beer is a Superfood. I call that a win.
Sarah Moran, RD– Sarah is another real food RD trying to save the world with fruits and vegetables. No seriously, she even has a free guide on how to eat and enjoy veggies more. You can find it at the bottom of this page. Since you know we love instagram you can also find her here.
@realfoodlab– Deanna Mutzel is a chiropractor with a love of real food recipes. Her photos almost always have something green in them (#dietitianapproved) and are always gorgeous. Not only does she supply you with a steady stream of food porn but she also adds in recipes below her pictures so you can make all the things. Bonus! Her hubs is one of our podcasters, talk about a dream team.
Brittany Angell– Brittany is a fellow Rochesterian, the author of Every Last Crumb, and owner of the instagram account @brittany_angell. Brittany’s website is a great place to go if you are looking for a gluten free sweet treat. She is a rock star in allergen free recipe development and I’m definitely making this Coconut Lime Granola for my next hike.
Mike Mutzel, husband of the lovely Deanna, is currently completing his MS in Nutrition and is all about that bass (I hope) and functional medicine. He is a graduate of the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice and is the author of The Belly Fat Effect. Mike’s podcast, High Intensity Health, talks fitness, nutrition, and functional medicine.
Markwood Acres- I have a CSA with Markwood Acres and I couldn’t be more pleased. We paid for our organic produce up front and are now in the midst of 22 weeks of fresh, organic goods from a local eco-friendly farmstead. Every week we are getting new and interesting foods and this dude passes out our produce in his dirty bare feet. Talk about real food. You make think that is weird but I think it is awesome. If you are in the Rochester area I definitely recommend you sign up for their CSA.
